The UptoLog System
UptoLog gathers detailed information about .NET application failures by logging
errors,
traces and
time measurement
across the logical and physical layers. All log data gathered during a specific activity are related through
a unique activity id. This makes it possible to group errors, traces and time measurement for a specific
activity
across many layers.
The UptoLog servers and database is installed in your environment and UptoLog Satellite is integrated into
your applications.
The UptoLog system consists of four elements:
UptoLog Satellite,
UptoLog Log Server,
UptoLog Search Server
and
UptoLog Database
which are all described below.
UptoLog Satellite
UptoLog Satellite
is a .NET client component which is integrated in the c# or VB.NET application during development after which all the logging
functions are available.
UptoLog Satellite:
- Errors:
Gather information on application failure and log the error
- Traces:
Generate and log traces
- Time measurement:
Generate and log time measurement
It is possible to configure which functions to use in an application. Logging of errors, traces and
time measurement can be configured independently of one another.
UptoLog Satellite automatically gathers relevant information such as: Operating system, CLR version,
memory usage, user information, etc.
UptoLog Log Server
UptoLog Log Server
is a web service application which receives log data from UptoLog Satellite and saves log data in
UptoLog Database.
UptoLog Search Server
UptoLog Search Server
is a web application which enables you to search the gathered information on errors, traces and
time measurement in the UptoLog Database and view activity relations in an easy way. If you want
to compare errors, traces or time measurement from different applications it is also possible to see
relations across activities. The straightforward search tool gives the developer an outline of the
situation.
UptoLog Database
UptoLog Database
is UptoLog’s central database where all log data are gathered.
