Installation guide for UptoLog Search Server

This page describes how UptoLog Search Server is installed.

Important: UptoLog Database must be installed before UptoLog Search Server is installed.

Software requirements

UptoLog Search Server can be installed and run on Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 with .NET Framework 3.5.
UptoLog Search Server supports Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.* and higher.

The UptoLog servers UptoLog Search Server and UptoLog Log Server can be installed on the same web server or on different web servers.

Installation instructions

UptoLog Search Server is installed in a virtual directory on a web server by running UptoLog Search Server installation file on the web server. During the installation the wanted web site is selected and the name of the virtual directory is stated, default name is UptoLog-SearchServer. Likewise the access to UptoLog Database is configured.

Virtual directory set-up

After the installation the configuration of the virtual directory, where UptoLog Search Server is installed, is checked.

Integrated Windows authentication
Since UptoLog Search Server reads the user’s authentication information the virtual directory must be configured to use Integrated Windows authentication. This is done through properties in the virtual directory. In the Properties window the Directory Security tab is selected and Edit in the Authentication and access control group is pressed. In the Authentication Methods window anonymous access is disabled while Integrated Windows authentication is enabled.

Use .NET 2.0
The virtual directory must be configured to use .NET 2.0. This is done through properties in the virtual directory. In the Properties windows the ASP.NET tab is selected and 2.0.* is selected for ASP.NET version.
